Taemin releases ‘Guilty’ and we’re here for it!
It’s been two years since Taemin‘s last solo release (due to military duties), and to say we were excited to hear his new release is an understatement.
Taemin released his fourth mini-album ‘Guilty‘ and the title track of the same name earlier this week.
As a solo performer, Taemin pours his heart and soul into his music and performances. ‘Guilty‘ is another perfect example of how hard he works on his craft. It’s a powerful and evocative track that is overflowing with emotion and feelings. However, at the same time, it feels quite dark and foreboding. The addition of the strings arrangement lends a beautiful, graceful feel to the track, but also adds to the feeling of drama.
The power of the track comes from Taemin’s combination of high notes and strong vocals. He even throws in some rap and deep whispery vocals. It’s his journey and we’re all just along for the ride.
In a recent interview with Luxury magazine, Taemin revealed that the new mini-album had been inspired by French philosopher Goerges Bataille’s 1957 book L’Erotisme.
“Looking at Taemin as an artist, I felt that it was time to write another chapter,” he shared. “There are times when things we thought were unacceptable become acceptable at certain moments. At that time, you will have emotions. I try to do something different every time, and I thought that feeling was the theme that encompassed this attempt.”
TAEMIN ‘Guilty’
According to the data released by the Hanteo chart, ‘Guilty‘ sold 104,796 copies on its first day of release, making it Taemin‘s best-selling album in first-day sales.
